Atlanta Design Festival Kicks Off Tomorrow With Architecture and Urban Design Tours


Atlanta Design Festival returns this weekend with an in-person and virtual hybrid staged at various locations around the Atlanta Metro Region. Hosted by Mom ! Design is human Since 2007, the event has aimed to develop the Atlanta design industry through educational tours and lectures highlighting Atlanta’s best urban, architectural, interior and furniture design. Formerly known as Design is human Atlanta, the Atlanta Design Festival is resuming its shape as a city-wide event following the fully virtual 2020 edition of the mid-pandemic.

Over the next eight days, attendees will be invited to numerous conferences, both in-person and virtual, with leading designers and decision-makers, including the Georgia State Representative. Canon Park, Dutch design organization Dutch reversals, Assistant Director of Historic Preservation of Atlanta Doug Young, and dozens of other industry leaders.

The highlight events, however, are the architectural tours. Tomorrow, September 2, participants will be invited to the Town of Young Harris to visit The Nest, an all-solar community in Brannon Ridge Preserve. Besides, Atlanta City Planning and Transportation will host a Placemaking and Vision Zero Bike Tour, who will visit new projects such as a parklet and a tactical sidewalk project. Then, on September 3, participants will venture to Serbian, a “wellness” community on the outskirts of Atlanta. Finally, next Saturday, participants will be invited to visit various residences and architectural offices across the City of Atlanta.

All festival activities are free, with the exception of each of the architectural tours, which require tickets to participate. In addition, masks will be mandatory at all in-person events and inside visiting locations. Finally, children under 12 will not be allowed at any events due to COVID issues.
