ROCHESTER – The next phase of the reconstruction of North Broadway Avenue is being prepared.
The first open house on the project, between the Silver Lake Bridge and the Elton Hills Drive intersection, is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16 at 125 Live.
The project, estimated at $12 million, is a continuation of the transformation of the pavement of an old highway into an urban street and follows on from work south of the Silver Lake Bridge.
With construction slated to begin in 2024, the city is analyzing and designing improvements for the next phase of work guided by the 2015 Broadway Corridor Study.
The project is expected to include upgrades that support improved safe multi-modal transportation and connections to pedestrian and cycling facilities along the Zumbro River, Cascade Creek and Silver Lake. Expected features of the new roadway include medians, landscaped boulevards, one-way cycle lanes, and sidewalks or pathways depending on the side of the roadway.
The public will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and provide feedback on the proposed design during the open house on August 16.
Project information will also be posted online August 17 at www.broadwayaverochester.com.
