Downtown Design 2022 set to bolster Dubai’s booming design scene

The Middle East’s leading design fair, Downtown Design returns from November 9-12, 2022, showcasing opportunities for the global design industry in the booming UAE market

The rapid growth of Dubai’s economy has generated a new wave of opportunity and has had a direct ripple effect on the local property market, with interior design being one of the many industries to benefit from this boom.

Downtown Design (November 9-12, 2022) is the region’s destination for high-quality contemporary design and attracts leading design professionals, industry decision makers and buyers from the Middle East, Africa, South America South Asia and beyond. Now in its ninth year, the fair has established itself as the Middle East’s premier design event, its popularity – bolstered by sister event Art Dubai and a growing affluent audience – bolstering the already booming local design sector. .

Brands, manufacturers, studios and individual designers around the world participate in Downtown Design to gain business opportunities, improve their visibility and brand awareness in the market, while reaching the most relevant audiences.

At the 2022 show, big global names such as Cosentino, Fritz Hansen, Lasvit, Minotti and Pedrali will exhibit creative showcases and the latest collections. CC-Tapis will unveil an exclusive collection of hand-knotted rugs by multidisciplinary designer Bethan Laura Wood, presented by Iwan Maktabi; Lutron stages an interactive experience with architectural lighting; and VitrA will launch its collaboration with Tom Dixon in the Middle East. The Parisian design gallery Anne Jacquemin Sablon will present, among others, pieces by interior designer Tristan Auer; and Colombian textile studio Verdi returns with a showcase of handcrafted pieces of rare natural fibers woven with metals.

A visitor to Downtown Design

In the section of the show dedicated to limited edition design, Downtown Editions, the famous design gallery House of Today, presents works by Lebanese designers Stephanie Moussallem and Roula Salamoun, among others; emerging Emirati designer Omar Al Gurg will unveil a solo showcase of his brand Modu Method; and Kuwaiti designer Meshary AlNassar will present new collectibles using natural materials.

Visitors can also experience a curated selection of collectible design and craft pieces in dedicated exhibits from Egypt, Jordan and Uganda.

Dubai-based studio Monochrome Study for Downtown Design 2021

Alongside a week-long lineup of captivating talks and masterclasses, networking events and guided tours, this year’s edition of the fair will welcome a number of new features, including new programs aimed at audience categories specific and interest-based; an ambitious sustainable development plan; and the main champagne lounge hosted by Veuve Clicquot, celebrating the house’s 250th anniversary. §
