CoSIDA All-AMERICAN COMPLETE TEAMS
Middlebury women’s football player Rose evans (Needham, Mass.) Was named by the organization to the Second US Academic Team of College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA). Evans is the first player in the program to earn this honor.
Evans has a perfect grade point average of 4.00 with a double major in English and American Literature, as well as Gender, Sexuality and Feminism Studies. The junior has played a key role in the success of the team this season.
Defensively, she was part of a unit that recorded nine shutouts and a team-against average of 0.96. In the NESCAC tournament, Evans was very offensive, collecting a goal and an assist in the final 15 minutes of a semi-final game as Middlebury tied 12 Amherst 2-2 and qualified for the final on penalties. In the title match, she scored the Panthers’ only goal in a 1-1 draw with 14th-placed Wesleyan as Middlebury again won on penalties to win the 2021 NESCAC Championship.
Overall, she started 16 of the 19 games she played and finished fifth on the team with three goals and seven points.
Middlebury finished the season 13-4-3, winning the Conference Championship and advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
