CINCINNATI- Seniors Ellie Leather and Jane Sensibaugh were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s Track and Field Team. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their performance in the classroom and in competition.
Both athletes were named All-District Academic First-Team winners, which advances them to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. All-America winners will be announced in mid-June.
Leather is a distance runner on the cross country and track and field team. This year, she was the first Bearcat to make it to the NCAA championship in cross country. She also took third place in the indoor mile at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship meet. She recently qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 1,500 meter race. She is a five-time AAC champion in 2022 and holds six school records. Leather majored in interdisciplinary studies and earned a GPA of 3.62.
Sensibaugh is a pitcher on the track team. This year, she broke the school record in the discus throw and was the top thrower in the discus, shot put and hammer throw for the Bearcats. She won the discus throw at the AAC Championship meet and reached the podium in the indoor shot put. Sensibaugh received the Nancy Hamat Scholar-Athlete of the Year award at the 2022 OneTeam Awards for having the highest GPA of any female athlete. She majored in Interdisciplinary Studies and earned a GPA of 3.99.
