Ranking Every Major Jersey Design in Utah Jazz History

Utah Jazz (Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports)

Recently, rumors are circulating about a possible rebranding for Utah Jazz. It seems like a fitting timing, given that the Jazzmen have sported almost the exact same design since 2010. The longevity of the current white, yellow and royal blue design makes sense. It’s a pretty classic look. There is still time for something new, for the simple reason that new is usually fun.

Speaking of which, now is a perfectly fun time to rank the best jerseys in Utah Jazz history. Readers should keep in mind that these rankings are entirely subjective. The day when analytical models can tell us which jersey designs look the best will likely be the day FanSided employs robots to write articles about the NBA.

A quick caveat: we don’t consider any alternatives in this article. We only rank the major jerseys in Utah Jazz history. If your favorite Jazz jersey is another, go read one of our other basketball-focused articles. Thank you.

What are the best Utah Jazz jerseys in franchise history?

It may be just too difficult to disentangle an era of mediocrity from this conception. Of course, it’s also possible that it’s just a poor design, period.

Thank Utah Jazz for trying something different around this time. It just didn’t work. Light blue on darker blue looks like an amateur league design. In fact, variations of powder blue usually don’t work.

Other than that, these jerseys are just plain boring. They shout 7th seed. It was the shortest jersey design in Utah Jazz history, and for good reason. They switched to (almost) the current design in 2010 and haven’t looked back until now.

Fortunately.
